Meet our pastor
Dr. Douglas VanNostrand became the senior pastor of First Baptist Church in Johnstown on Sunday, September 27, 2026, when the congregation called him to serve this church.
He and his wife, Amy, have been married since 2010 and are raising four children.
Dr. VanNostrand grew up on a small farm and was raised in the congregation of Duanesburg-Florida Baptist Church. He served as a lay elder at Greater Grace Christian Church in Broadalbin. He was ordained in 2021 and served Emmanuel Baptist Church in Gloversville until 2025, first as associate pastor and then as head pastor. Most recently he was principal of Perth Bible Christian Academy.
He earned a Master of Divinity in Theology and a PhD in Bible Exposition from Liberty University. He preaches verse by verse through books of the Bible, and his aim is to show people who God is and to lead them closer to Jesus.
